Former Mamelodi Sundowns left back Tebogo Langerman has taken issue with Sekhukhune United coach Brandon Truter and ex-footballers who believe the DStv Premiership champions are dominating the league due to their financial power. Truter was recently quoted saying that Sundowns have an advantage in the transfer market due to the financial clout of club president Patrice Motsepe.
Langerman, however, feels Sundowns are being disrespected for the amount of work they do behind the scenes. “It’s disappointing coming from a coach and even legends are saying the same thing and that’s nonsense. I don’t know where they get the right to say that, because he is disrespecting the club, president, supporters, coaches…everyone who gives their life to Sundowns,” said Langerman.

The former Sundowns man went on to explain the extra measures the club takes to ensure their success. “As a coach, has he (Truter) ever recorded his own training session? Has he done individual or group analysis? Has he asked a player if he has eaten breakfast or lunch before training? Those are the questions I have for him, before he can talk about Sundowns. Before he can talk about Sundowns, he must check his work first. All these things I asked, Sundowns do that. They record every training session. Every morning before training, they analyze. Sundowns analyze their friendly games. I don’t think other teams analyze their training sessions or friendly games. They do individual and group analysis at Sundowns. They spend a lot of time fixing problems. The goalkeeping department do analysis. They analyze if they were in the right position or if they made the right pass or if he can improve where he is standing. They must not rush to talk.”
Langerman also gave credit to the coaches at Sundowns, for how they implement things into their system. “People who say Sundowns are winning because of money don’t know football. They only know players. People should stop talking nonsense and give credit to Sundowns for the work they do, mostly the coaches. If you check the previous coach and the current coach, it’s completely different teams. The style of play at Sundowns has changed here and there. Credit has to go to the coaches, to show that Sundowns hire the best coaches.”
