Gabuza And Co. The Main Men To Worry Sundowns

Monday evening will see one of South African football’s biggest rivalries reignited when Mamelodi Sundowns face off against SuperSport United in the Tshwane Derby. SuperSport will be hoping to do the double over Sundowns for the first time in 21 years, having last managed the feat in the 2001/02 season.

Ahead of the highly anticipated encounter, Sundowns’ Aubrey Modiba, who played for SuperSport last season, has identified four of his former teammates who could do damage against his side. Modiba believes that the team that wants it the most will come out on top and is hopeful that it will be his side.

“They’ve got speed in [Iqraam] Rayners, [Ghampani] Lungu, they’ve got [Bradley] Grobler and [Thamsanqa] Gabuza is there in the box,” Modiba said. “I think they’ve got a very well-balanced team and we have to apply ourselves on the day and make sure that they don’t do the double on us. I think we’re ready for the encounter and hopefully we win this time.”

The encounter between the two sides promises to be an exciting affair and could potentially be the difference between the two sides in the race for the DStv Premiership title.
