Kaizer Chiefs have been on a roller coaster ride this season, with glimpses of brilliance followed by inconsistent results. Midfielder Cole Alexander hopes the club can turn it around and find consistency.
Chiefs currently sit in fourth place on the DStv Premiership standings, 16 points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns. Alexander believes the team knows what is expected from coach Arthur Zwane, but need to find the consistency to carry it out.
“I think with every coach there is always something to learn, and every coach has their qualities, and I can see that in coach Zwane. He brings something different, and the guys get it now, we know what he wants and if it works, we look great. It’s just to have that consistency when we do it,” he said.
Alexander believes the team has the resources to succeed, as they have access to sports scientists, doctors and other support staff. He has urged his teammates to replicate the backroom staff’s work on the field of play.
“I think every day we are getting better and better. There is everything at Chiefs, we have sports scientists, we have amazing doctors, amazing people, there’s everything and as a player, to have all of that prepares us so well, so we are halfway [to] winning already just with our preparation.
“Having that for us is a big opportunity and a big win and now its just for us to get it right on the field,” he continued.
Alexander has recovered from the niggle that kept him out of Chiefs’ last two matchday squads and is hoping to be available for selection when Amakhosi face Sundowns next Saturday. Six players have been tipped to carry Chiefs’ hopes for the remainder of the season.
