The defeat marked the joint-heaviest in the club’s history, with three of their former players in George Maluleka, Rama Mphahlele and Dumisani Zuma heavily involved in the goals. “We learn from our mistakes and today we learned the hard way.
I want to forget about this match as soon as possible, and move on, especially for the players,” Zwane told the media after the match. The result marked the second time in Chiefs’ history that they have been on the end of a 4-0 defeat, with the other taking place against Wydad Casablanca in 2021.
The Amakhosi will now turn their attention to their next match against Mamelodi Sundowns, a side they have previously lost to by a 4-0 scoreline.
Zwane will be hoping that his side can put the painful defeat to AmaZulu behind them and get back to winning ways against the Brazilians.
