On Sunday, Marumo Gallants maintained their winning start in the CAF Confederation Cup with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Congolese side Saint Eloi Lupopo.
The Limpopo outfit, led by head coach Raymond Mdaka, got off to a positive start with a 3-1 win over Libyan side Al Akhdar last weekend, and they continued their good form on Sunday.
Mpho Mvelase opened the scoring for Gallants on 24 minutes with a header from a corner, before Ranga Chivaviro doubled the lead just before the halftime break.
Patou Kabangu pulled one back for Lupopo late on, but it wasn’t enough to deny Marumo Gallants a second straight win in Group A. The result leaves Marumo Gallants at the top of the group, two points ahead of USM Alger and four ahead of Lupopo.
