Ethan Brooks has credited a number of South African players for helping
him adjust to life in Europe following his move to Greek club Panserraikos.
The 24-year-old midfielder joined the Super League side at the start of the
season after leaving AmaZulu, and has since featured in 16 of the club’s 26
league matches despite the challenge of fighting relegation.
Speaking to PSLSA, the former TS Galaxy player revealed that he has leaned
on fellow South Africans based abroad for support and guidance.
“When I landed, I was in touch with Lyle Foster. We would chat in the
beginning now and then, and Luther Singh as well because he is not far from
here. I tend to chat to Yusuf now and then and Antonio [Van Wyk] also just
to check up. Rowan Human also, he is also not far from me. We chat now and
again to see how things are going on their side,” Brooks said.
He added that the advice from players with more experience in Europe has
been invaluable.
“It helps, especially with guys like Lyle and Luther because they’ve been in
Portugal and Belgium. I asked Luther for some advice because he’s been this
side and he has been really helpful, Lyle as well.”
Brooks joins a list of South Africans who have played in Greece, including
Nasief Morris, Stanton Fredericks, Bryce Moon, and Lehlohonolo Masalesa.
