Kaizer Chiefs finally ended their run of three consecutive Betway
Premiership games without a win after defeating Durban City 1-0 at FNB
Stadium on Sunday.
Following the match, Amakhosi coach Cedric Kaze revealed that his players’
fear of making the wrong decisions had been breeding doubt, which previously
made it difficult for the team to secure positive results. However, he
credited their positive character as the difference in the victory over
Durban City.
“I believe that they wanted to do well. Sometimes, the fear of not making
the right decisions causes doubt to come into your mind, and you know that
with the doubt, it’s a bit difficult. But the character, the personality
they had on the field was positive,” Kaze told the media after the game on
Sunday.
“They knew what was at stake, and I’m pretty sure that the next few days are
going to be much better,” he observed.
Kaze added that the team has been extremely unfortunate with the number of
injuries and suspensions that have crippled their campaign.
“I believe if we didn’t have those injuries, we would have been a more
consistent team,” he explained.
Chiefs will be hoping to build on the victory when they host
bottom-of-the-log Magesi FC on Saturday at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
Amakhosi currently sit fifth in the standings with 33 points from 19 games
and remain focused on finishing at least third to secure qualification for
the CAF Confederation Cup next season.
