The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has announced that Mr Zola Majavu’s
tenure as Independent League Prosecutor will end on 31 January 2026.
In a formal statement, the PSL Chairman, Acting CEO, and Executive
Committee extended their sincere thanks to Majavu for his exemplary
service, highlighting the competence and integrity he displayed throughout
his term. He earned widespread respect for his management of league
disciplinary matters and was praised for his role in upholding the PSL’s
governance standards.
While Majavu is stepping away from the prosecutor’s position, he will
maintain an ongoing involvement with the PSL as a member of the First
Instance Body, which reviews and adjudicates club licensing applications
each season—a vital process in maintaining compliance and professionalism
across all clubs.
During its meeting on Thursday, 29 January 2026, the PSL Executive
Committee confirmed the appointment of Advocate Pumzo Mbana of the
Johannesburg Bar as the new Independent League Prosecutor. Advocate Mbana
is an experienced sports law specialist who has previously served with
distinction on the League’s Judicial Tribunals, making him a recognised
and trusted figure within PSL operations.
His appointment ensures continuity and legal expertise in the league’s
judicial system, with the expectation that he will advance the strong
foundation established by Majavu while bringing his own insight and legal
skill to the position.
