SOWETO – Orlando Pirates have confirmed the departure of Nigerian
defender Olisa Ndah, with the club and player reaching a mutual agreement to
part ways on the final day of the January transfer window.
Ndah’s contract was originally set to expire at the end of the current
season. However, the club stated that the 26-year-old requested an early
release to seek new opportunities.
“In a statement, Pirates said: “Orlando Pirates Football Club can confirm
that the Club has reached a mutual agreement with defender Olisa Ndah to
part ways.
“The Nigerian international requested an early release from his contract, a
decision that follows careful and respectful discussions between the player
and the Club’s management,” the club announced. “Central to these
conversations was a shared understanding to afford Ndah the opportunity to
secure regular game time elsewhere as he enters the next phase of his
career.”
This move grants Ndah the necessary clearance to finalise a transfer before
the window closes.
Since joining the Buccaneers in 2021, Ndah has shown flashes of his quality
but has seen his progress consistently hampered by injuries. Periods of
strong performance were often interrupted by spells on the sidelines,
limiting his ability to secure a regular starting position.
Previously linked with moves abroad, the early termination now allows the
defender to find a club where he can aim for consistent playing time as he
moves forward in his career.
