Bloemfontein side Marumo Gallants have strengthened their midfield with
the acquisition of Ivorian midfielder Mohammed Doumbia on a season-long loan
from Tanzanian giants Young Africans (Yanga).
The 27-year-old, who has previously played in the Czech Premier League for
clubs including Slovan Liberec, arrives seeking a fresh start after a brief
stint at Yanga. Gallants hold an option to make the move permanent at the
end of the current campaign.
Doumbia becomes the latest Ivorian to join the club’s ranks, linking up with
compatriots Romaric Ouattara, Ibrahim Bance, and Eroine Agnikoi. He will
reunite with French coach Alexandre Lafitte, who has prior experience
managing in Côte d’Ivoire.
While the club has officially registered the signing, Doumbia will not be
available for Gallants’ upcoming match against Kaizer Chiefs on Wednesday
evening as he awaits the finalization of his work permit.
The move signals Gallants’ intent to add experience and depth as
they navigate a challenging Premiership season under Lafitte’s guidance.
