Durban City FC have emerged victorious in the race to sign highly
sought-after teenage striker Wonderboy Mthobisi Khuzwayo, fending off
interest from several other Premier Soccer League clubs.
The 17-year-old talent from KwaZulu-Natal, who recently completed his
matric with a Bachelor’s pass, had attracted enquiries from nearly five
top-flight teams. However, Durban City moved swiftly to secure his
signature, outmaneuvering competitors including AmaZulu FC and TS Galaxy.
A source close to the player confirmed that Khuzwayo—nicknamed
“Haaland”—has already begun training with the Durban-based side and has
been settled at the club house. The club is also assisting him in finding
a tertiary institution for his further studies.
The youngster was originally scouted by agent Tebogo Moloi of TM Scouts
during a December tournament in Yetheni, Mthunzini, where Khuzwayo played
for the Yetheni Citizens. When contacted for comment, Moloi acknowledged
widespread interest in the player but declined to discuss the transfer
details.
