TS Galaxy have officially confirmed the departure of Bafana Bafana
defender Khulumani Ndamane to reigning champions Mamelodi Sundowns.
The 21-year-old centre-back, a product of the Galaxy academy, will
immediately join his new teammates in Polokwane, where Sundowns are
preparing for the second half of the season.
In a statement, the Mpumalanga-based club bid an emotional farewell to
their homegrown talent: “Thank you, Khulumani Ndamane, for your
professionalism, commitment, and passion during your time with us. You
represented the badge with pride and gave your all on and off the field.
As you take this next step in your career and join a new club, we wish you
nothing but success and continued growth. Once a Rocket, always a Rocket.”
The move concludes months of speculation, with reports from the Siya crew
as early as July 2024 indicating that Sundowns were leading the race for
his signature. The Brazilians, seeking a long-term defensive solution
following the departure of Lucas Suárez, intensified talks with Galaxy to
secure the highly-rated youngster.
Ndamane enjoyed a breakthrough 2024/25 season, making 27 appearances and
establishing himself as one of the Betway Premiership’s most promising
young defenders. His consistent performances attracted serious interest
from both Sundowns and Orlando Pirates, with the champions ultimately
winning the battle.
While initial discussions explored a potential loan-back arrangement to
ensure regular playing time, Sundowns have opted to integrate Ndamane
directly into their squad for the remainder of the campaign.
