Gavin Hunt Emerges as Front-Runner for Stellenbosch FC Head Coach Role

Stellenbosch FC’s search for a new head coach is nearing its conclusion,
with sources indicating that discussions with preferred candidate Gavin Hunt
are now at an advanced stage.

The club has been carefully evaluating its options since the departure of
Steve Barker to Simba SC, aiming to maintain the continuity and success
achieved under his tenure. While speculation has swirled, the club has
publicly remained quiet, issuing a statement on 20 December confirming they
would not comment further until an official announcement.

Behind the scenes, however, negotiations are progressing. Informed sources
reveal that talks with the experienced Hunt are well underway, with
alignment reported on the club’s vision, structure, and long-term project.
Though not yet finalized, the four-time PSL winner is strongly positioned to
take the helm.

Stellenbosch are prioritizing a coach who can provide stability and
possesses a deep understanding of the South African football landscape. This
approach is seen as key to building on the team’s recent progress in the
Betway Premiership and on the continental stage.

While the club maintains its official silence, all indications suggest the
wait is almost over, with the appointment of Steve Barker’s successor
entering its final phase.
