Zimbabwean forward Washington Navaya is attracting significant interest
from multiple South African top-flight clubs, with his representatives
confirming that any transfer decision will be postponed until after the
upcoming Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Navaya, who was named Zimbabwe’s Soccer Star of the Year in November after
clinching the Golden Boot with 17 goals last season, is currently focused
on national team duties. His agent, Gilbert Sengwe, stated in an exclusive
interview with PSLSA that negotiations will accelerate post-tournament.
“We hope a good deal will come soon after AFCON. Several clubs in Zimbabwe
and several foreign clubs have shown interest,” Sengwe revealed.
The striker already had a trial with newly promoted Durban City in July,
where he made a positive impression on the technical staff. However, the
club opted to delay a move, preferring for him to complete the season in
Zimbabwe first.
Orlando Pirates and Durban City are understood to be among the PSL sides
tracking Navaya’s progress, alongside domestic club Scottland FC.
