Durban City Sifting Through Flood of CVs for Coaching Vacancy

Durban City are nearing a decision on their new head coach following the
departure of Gavin Hunt, with the club reportedly overwhelmed by interest
from candidates eager for the role.

The KwaZulu-Natal side confirmed Hunt’s exit last week—a mutual separation
ending his brief five-month tenure. As the search for a successor
intensifies, the club has been strongly linked with former coach Ernst
Middendorp, a familiar and respected figure in the local setup.

However, Siya sources indicate that Middendorp is just one of many names in
contention. The vacancy has reportedly sparked significant interest across
the coaching spectrum, with numerous applications submitted.

“The club has been flooded with CVs. A lot of coaches want this job. Even
Alan Koch has shown interest – so you can imagine how many more are looking
at the opportunity. Durban City are taking their time because there are many
options,” revealed a source close to the process.

With the club carefully evaluating the pool of applicants, an official
announcement is expected soon.
