Stellenbosch’s Talent Pipeline Continues as Midfielder Attracts PSL Interest

The steady flow of talent from Stellenbosch FC to South Africa’s top
clubs shows no sign of slowing, with the Cape Winelands club facing fresh
interest in one of its key players following the imminent departure of
striker Andre de Jong to Orlando Pirates.

Should the move be finalized as expected, De Jong will join a growing list
of players who have traded Stellenbosch for Gauteng’s football giants in
recent seasons.

The club has become a proven talent hub, having previously transferred
Ashley Du Preez and Zitha Kwinika to Kaizer Chiefs in 2022, followed by
Sibongiseni Mthethwa. Mamelodi Sundowns have also turned to Stellies,
securing the signings of Iqraam Rayners, Jayden Adams, and Fawaaz Basadien.
Pirates themselves have previously signed Deano van Rooyen and Sihle Nduli
from the club.

Now, attention has turned to another rising star: Bafana Bafana midfielder
Oswin Appollis. The 25-year-old has drawn significant local interest thanks
to his consistent performances in recent seasons, with his contract set to
expire in June 2025.

Sources indicate that Stellenbosch are in talks with Appollis’s camp over a
potential contract extension, and the player remains focused on his current
club. However, those close to the situation have revealed that his
representatives remain open to listening to offers should an agreement with
Stellenbosch not be reached.

This leaves the door open for yet another talented export from one of the
PSL’s most productive talent factories, as the league’s heavyweights
continue to look toward the Maroons for their next star.
