Chiefs Cool Interest in Mukwala Despite Renewed Speculation

Despite fresh rumors from East Africa linking Kaizer Chiefs to Simba SC
striker Steven Mukwala, sources close to the club indicate they have no
plans to revive a move for the Ugandan international.

Mukwala, whose contract with the Tanzanian giants expires in June, is at the
center of renewed transfer speculation. Simba SC is reportedly holding out
for a fee of around R1 million for any club wishing to sign him before his
contract ends.

However, this publication has learned from a well-placed source that Chiefs’
technical team has shifted its focus elsewhere. “Chiefs are no longer
expected to pursue the player’s signature,” the source confirmed,
highlighting that the club is assessing other forward options as part of
their broader squad planning.

This stance comes despite a reported push for the player at the start of the
season, when former coach Nasreddine Nabi was believed to have been an
admirer. While Tanzanian media suggests Chiefs have renewed their interest,
the club’s internal priorities have since evolved, with different striker
profiles now taking precedence.

For Simba SC, there is no immediate pressure to sell. The club is likely
banking on Mukwala featuring for Uganda at the upcoming Africa Cup of
Nations, where a strong performance could increase his market value and
attract more suitors.

For now, while external noise persists, Chiefs appear to be taking a
measured approach, opting to evaluate a wider range of attacking targets
rather than rushing into a deal for Mukwala.
