Former Coach Backs Ndlondlo for Chiefs Move, Questions Club’s Transfer Strategy

As Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly monitoring Marumo Gallants midfielder
Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo, his former coach, Dylan Kerr, has passionately
advocated for the move, while simultaneously questioning Amakhosi’s
recurring transfer policy.

Ndlondlo, who rejoined Gallants on a free transfer after his contract with
Orlando Pirates expired, has been in stellar form. His three goals in the
Carling Knockout were instrumental in driving his team to the final,
reigniting interest from top clubs, including Chiefs.

Kerr, who coached Ndlondlo at Gallants, expressed surprise that Chiefs
didn’t sign the 30-year-old when he was available for free.

“I was surprised that nobody big went for him after leaving Pirates. He was
fantastic for me, got his move to Pirates, the fans loved him, he fitted
into the style of play,” Kerr told PSLSA.

He then pointed to a pattern in Chiefs’ dealings, using the example of
Sibongiseni Mthethwa: “Chiefs should have signed him from Black Leopards. He
went to Stellenbosch, got better and Chiefs paid a lot of money for him.
They had a chance to sign Ndlondlo on a free, now they’ll have to buy him
from Marumo Gallants. How many players now Chiefs have signed after they
were taken by somebody else? It has cost them a lot of money.”

The Perfect Fit for Chiefs

Kerr believes Ndlondlo possesses the exact qualities Chiefs are missing. He
described the midfielder as the “engine” and “imagination” of a team, whose
skill and cleverness make the entire side perform better.

He even suggested a perfect tactical fit within the current Chiefs squad:
“You’ve got ‘Ox’ (Mthethwa) as a number six, let somebody like Ndlondlo in
front of him go and play. Ox is not that player to play, he does not bring
the excitement, that energy, he’s a different kind of player.”

Praising Ndlondlo’s character, Kerr concluded, “Every team has that genius
that can bring a game into life. For a little player, he’s got a big heart
you know.”
