Chiefs Set for Defensive Boost Ahead of Continental Debut

Kaizer Chiefs are expected to welcome back key defenders Rushwin Dortley
and Given Msimango following the FIFA international break, providing a
timely boost as the club prepares for its first-ever CAF Confederation Cup
group stage campaign.

According to insiders, both players are slated to be available for
selection, though their readiness for match action will be assessed by the
coaching staff based on fitness levels.

“The coach confirmed that Given was fine after the last game. Both him and
Rushwin will be available after the FIFA break. But we are not sure whether
they will be match-fit or ready to play or not. But they will be back,” a
source told the Siya crew.

The return of the experienced duo would be a significant reinforcement for
Amakhosi, who have had to rely on Zitha Kwinika, Aden McCarthy, and Inacio
Miguel in central defence during their prolonged absence.

Their comeback is seen as crucial for navigating a challenging Confederation
Cup group, where Chiefs will face Egyptian powerhouses Zamalek FC and Al
Masry, as well as Zambia’s Zesco United. The historic continental campaign
begins with an away fixture against Al Masry on November 23.

The club had not responded to a request for comment by the time of
publication.
