Kwayiba’s Corner: Injury Setback Behind Him, Midfielder Eyes Pirates Role

Orlando Pirates midfielder Sinoxolo Kwayiba is steadily reintegrating
into the squad after a challenging start to his Buccaneers career, with
sources close to the player dismissing rumours of an impending loan move.

The 25-year-old, who earned a Bafana Bafana call-up while at Chippa United,
has seen limited action since his transfer, making just four substitute
appearances this season. This lack of game time had sparked speculation that
he could be sent out in January. However, an insider has firmly refuted
these claims, pointing to his recent inclusion as a sign of progress.

“There is no truth in those rumours,” the source stated. “The boy is back
and is pushing for his place. He came on against Richards Bay, which was his
second appearance in a week. You can see there is progress.”

According to the source, Kwayiba’s slow start was not due to form or
coaching preference, but rather an injury that disrupted his initial
integration at the club. “The reason he hasn’t featured much is that he had
an injury that delayed his progress. But he has since pushed and is fit
again and now available to compete,” the insider explained.

With the injury setback now behind him, Kwayiba’s recent cameos against
Mamelodi Sundowns and Richards Bay signal a positive turn. There is growing
optimism within his camp that his energy and creativity can still become a
valuable asset for coach Abdeslam Ouaddou as Pirates battle on multiple
fronts this season.
