Amid Defensive Woes, Orbit College Boss Confident of Survival

Despite a heavy 4-1 defeat to Kaizer Chiefs, Orbit College FC coach
Pogiso Makhoye is standing firm, insisting his team is on course to achieve
its primary goal: retaining their Betway Premiership status.

The newly promoted side currently sits 12th with 13 points from 12 matches
(4 wins, 1 draw, 7 losses). While their defensive record is a concern,
Makhoye’s confidence stems from a clear, points-based strategy for the
season.

“We are on the right track because we want to save our status,” Makhoye
stated. “Our goal for the first 15 games is to get at least seven wins. We
currently have four, and we are not pressing the panic button because we
know we still have enough games to win.”

The coach acknowledged that their main area for improvement is a leaky
defence, which has now conceded 21 goals. However, he pointed to positive
signs, noting that in the three games prior to the Chiefs match, they had
limited opponents to a single goal each while finding the net themselves.

“Our concern is that we have been conceding a lot of goals,” he admitted.
“But for us, it’s not only about conceding; it’s about getting points. As
much as I don’t want to concede, if I don’t get points, I’ll get relegated.
We are working on our defence, but injuries have disrupted our consistent
back four, which is a worrying factor.”

Orbit College will look to get their survival bid back on track when they
host struggling Stellenbosch FC on November 22nd at the Olympia Park
Stadium.
