Petersen Prioritizes Team Victory Over Personal Clean Sheet Tally

Despite emerging as one of the standout performers of Kaizer Chiefs’
2025/26 season, goalkeeper Brandon Petersen insists his focus remains on
collective success rather than individual statistics.

The 29-year-old shot-stopper has been a pillar of strength for Amakhosi,
keeping an impressive nine clean sheets in his 13 appearances across all
competitions. His latest shutout secured a 1-0 victory over Durban City,
extending the team’s unbeaten run.

While acknowledging the personal milestone, Petersen was quick to redirect
the praise toward the team’s unified effort. “It’s nine clean sheets in 13
games. It’s a very good feeling for me,” Petersen told media. “But for me, I
am not really focused on how many clean sheets I have. For me, it’s
important to make sure that… we have a good team performance week in week
out.”

He emphasized that winning matches will always be his primary objective,
even if it means sacrificing a clean sheet. “More importantly, I will take a
victory over a clean sheet. Obviously, for me I am happy about it and
hopefully I can continue going that way,” he added with a laugh.

Following a strong turnout from supporters in Durban, Petersen also made a
heartfelt appeal to the “Khosi Nation” to pack the FNB Stadium for their
next match. He praised the fans for their unwavering loyalty, especially
after Friday’s game was delayed.

“It just shows us how much they care about us… So I wanna encourage them
to come out on Tuesday and fill up the stadium and come see us collect the
maximum points,” he said.

A victory in tonight’s fixture could propel Kaizer Chiefs into the top three
of the Betway Premiership table, adding significant weight to Petersen’s
team-first philosophy.
