Modiba Backs Loftus Move, Hails Boost for Sundowns’ Style

Mamelodi Sundowns defender Aubrey Modiba has welcomed the decision to
move Saturday’s blockbuster fixture against Orlando Pirates to Loftus
Versfeld, believing the superior pitch will allow his team to play their
trademark football.

Speaking at a Betway Premiership press conference, Modiba was candid about
the challenges of their previous venue. “To be honest, the past games we
played at Lucas Moripe, the pitch wasn’t in the best condition,” he
admitted. “But as players, we’re required to perform all the time,
irrespective of the surface.”

The defender contrasted this with the new venue, stating, “At Loftus, the
pitch has been much better, and I think it will allow us to play our normal
football.”

Modiba also noted the positive reaction from the fanbase, adding to the
anticipation for the clash. “I saw a lot of people excited that the game is
at Loftus, which is great. It’s something nice to see as a player. The fans
deserve a good pitch, and I think it will help us showcase the kind of
football we want to play.”
