Lehlohonolo Seema, the coach of Siwelele FC, is convinced his team is on
an upward trajectory following their resilient 0-0 draw away to Kaizer
Chiefs at FNB Stadium.
Despite the result leaving the club in the relegation zone, Seema
highlighted the significant improvements in his players’ mentality and
performance as a foundation for future success.
“The mindset of the players is very positive and they are believing in the
process,” Seema stated after the match. “I told you already, after the FIFA
break, this team will be a different team. First game after the break, we
did not concede, we were playing away, and we got a point. So definitely,
there’s something we are building on.”
The coach revealed that instilling mental toughness has been a primary
objective, transforming the team’s approach. “We had to work on mental
strength because this team was low in confidence. They used to play not to
lose, but now we’re trying to play to win. It’s a process, and we’re getting
there,” he explained.
Looking ahead, Seema emphasized the critical importance of turning home
games into victories, suggesting that draws like the one against Chiefs will
become more valuable once they start winning consistently in front of their
own fans.
“If we cannot win away, we must at least get a point, but at home it’s a
must-win,” he said. “Sooner or later, we’ll get it right and win one, two,
maybe even three or four in a row. That will be good.”
