Kaizer Chiefs will look to reignite their stuttering Betway Premiership
campaign this evening as they host Siwelele FC at the FNB Stadium.
Amakhosi are seeking their first league win in four matches, with their last
outing a 1-1 draw against AmaZulu. The team arrives with a boost, however,
as key off-season signings Lebohang Maboe, Etiosa Ighodaro, and Nkanyiso
Shinga are all nearing a return to full fitness.
Their opponents, Siwelele, head into the match with mixed form; they secured
a league win over Marumo Gallants in their last domestic fixture but were
eliminated from the Telkom Knockout by rivals Orlando Pirates. An intriguing
subplot sees Chiefs’ own loanees, Samkelo Zwane and Happy Mashiane, eligible
to feature against their parent club.
After a grueling 0-0 draw with AS Simba in the CAF Confederation Cup over
the weekend, Chiefs will be desperate to convert effort into three points
and appease their home supporters.
