Eymael’s Short Stint at Chippa United Ends, Laments Costly Player Errors

Belgian coach Luc Eymael has confirmed his departure from Chippa United,
concluding a brief and challenging tenure at the Betway Premiership club.
The exit follows a poor run of form that left the Chilli Boys anchored at
the bottom of the league table.

In his six league matches in charge, Eymael managed just one win, two draws,
and three defeats. His final game was a 4-1 cup loss to Richards Bay FC.

In an exclusive interview, Eymael reflected on his time in Gqeberha,
expressing disappointment but maintaining that the team showed significant
improvement under his guidance. He pointed to individual errors as the
primary reason for dropped points.

“I think the team was improving a lot, but the coach cannot avoid the
mistake of a player in marking, or the mistake of a goalkeeper, or a player
who is not scoring from one metre out,” Eymael stated. He argued that with
better execution, the team could have earned at least four more points from
recent matches.

Despite the results, Eymael expressed gratitude, saying, “I would like to
thank all the Chippa United fans, the chairman who brought me here… I wish
the club all the best for the future and also to the next coach good luck.”

True to his motto that “when one door closes another one opens,” Eymael is
already looking ahead to his next opportunity.

His departure marks another chapter of instability for the club, which is
now searching for a new coach to lead their fight for survival. Chippa
United’s next match is against AmaZulu on November 1st, where they will hope
a new leader can spark a turnaround.
