DDC Weekend Wrap: Pirates March On as Chiefs Stumble Again

The latest round of DStv Diski Challenge action saw Orlando Pirates
continue their dominant form, while Kaizer Chiefs’ struggles persisted.

Buccaneers Cruise, Cement Top Spot
Orlando Pirates solidified their position at the summit of the table with
a commanding 3-0 victory over Stellenbosch FC on Saturday. A brace from
Joy Manana and a goal from Samukelo Zikalala sealed the win for Roscoe
Krieling’s side. The result marks their sixth consecutive victory,
maintaining their status as the only unbeaten team in the campaign this
season.

Chiefs Held in Third Straight Draw
In contrast, Kaizer Chiefs were held to a 2-2 draw by Marumo Gallants on
Sunday, extending their winless run to three consecutive draws. Despite
goals from Donay Jansen and Goncalves Stephens, Amakhosi were pegged back
by strikes from Matala Makhubu and Hlayiseko Mabasa for the visitors,
leaving them frustrated once again.

Sundowns Edge Arrows in Five-Goal Thriller
Mamelodi Sundowns secured their third straight win in a thrilling 3-2
encounter against Golden Arrows. The Brazilians stormed to a three-goal
lead in the first half with strikes from Chuene Moabelo, first-team winger
Thapelo Maseko, and an Arrows own goal, before holding off a second-half
fightback from the visitors.
