South Africa’s Under-17 national team, Amajimbos, has commenced its
final phase of preparations for the upcoming FIFA Under-17 World Cup in
Qatar by calling 31 players into a selection camp.
Head coach Vela Khumalo has outlined a structured plan to ensure the squad
is ready for the global tournament, which runs from November 3-27. The
current camp will be followed by a final training camp on October 27 before
the team’s departure for Qatar.
The young South Africans earned their place at the World Cup through a
series of impressive continental performances, including a recent victory in
the COSAFA Under-17 Championship in Zimbabwe and a successful AFCON
qualification campaign.
Amajimbos will begin their World Cup journey with a Group Stage match
against Bolivia on November 3. The tournament offers the talented teenagers
a platform to showcase their skills and gain invaluable international
experience.
