Free agent Bongani Sam is on trial with Chippa United as he searches for
a new club ahead of the 2025/26 season.
The 28-year-old left-back has been training with Luc Eymael’s side for the
past two weeks, a move confirmed by Chilli Boys team manager Wanda
Mbenguzana.
“Yes, it’s true he is training with the team,” Mbenguzana stated. “He has
been training with the team for two weeks now. I will let you know when I
get the report from the technical team.”
Sam is without a club after a difficult stint with Kaizer Chiefs. He joined
Amakhosi at the start of the 2024/25 season but suffered a preseason injury
that sidelined him for the entire campaign, ultimately leading to his
release without making an official appearance.
His last competitive football was played during the 2023/24 season while on
loan at Moroka Swallows from his former club, Orlando Pirates, where he
featured in 13 league matches.
Attempts to reach Sam’s representatives at Football First for comment were
unsuccessful at the time of publication.
