Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly maintaining strong belief in young attacker
Donay Jansen, despite a challenging loan spell that saw him return to the
club.
Jansen, who was promoted to the senior team last season before being loaned
to SuperSport United, has been reintegrated into the club’s DDC (Diski
Challenge) team. Insiders indicate this move is designed to help him regain
match fitness and confidence after seeing limited playing time at
SuperSport.
A source close to the club explained that the unsuccessful loan stint
prompted Chiefs to take a more hands-on approach to his development. “Going
on loan to SuperSport where he did not play… definitely that brought him
back,” the source stated.
The club is so invested in his recovery that they are deploying him in
different positions, including defence, simply to ensure he gets crucial
minutes on the pitch. “We played him in defence for game time… just for
him to have game time because if he stays up there he will just stay there,”
the source revealed.
The insider expressed unwavering confidence in Jansen’s inherent talent,
suggesting that once he rediscovers his form and “football mentality,” he
has the potential to outperform other youngsters in the first-team setup.
While his loan spell yielded few appearances, Chiefs’ strategy of nurturing
him through their own system underscores their long-term confidence in his
ability to eventually contribute to the senior squad.
