Change of Plans: Yanga Sticks With Folz After Failed Bid for International Coach

In a surprising turn of events, Tanzanian champions Young Africans SC
(Yanga) have aborted their search for a new head coach and will continue
with Romain Folz at the helm.

According to sources close to the club, Yanga’s ambitious attempt to appoint
Madagascar national team coach Romiald Rakotondrabe fell through at the last
minute. This failed move comes after the club’s initial pursuit of their
former coach, Nasreddine Nabi, also proved unsuccessful following his recent
departure from Kaizer Chiefs.

With their top targets unavailable, the club has decided on a new strategy:
reinforcing the existing technical team. Instead of replacing Folz, Yanga
will now add an extra assistant coach to provide him with more support.

This decision marks a significant shift in the club’s off-season plans. The
hierarchy had been actively exploring options to strengthen the coaching
setup, but the collapse of the Rakotondrabe deal has forced a swift
reassessment.

While management maintains confidence in Folz, the move to bolster his staff
is seen as a necessary step to tackle the challenges of the upcoming season
and meet the high expectations at the reigning Tanzanian champions.

PSLSA reached out to Young Africans SC for comment, but the club had not
responded by the time of publication.
