University of Pretoria coach Kwanele Kopo has provided an update on new
signing Ntando Nkosi, confirming the former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder is
settling in but has clear areas for development.
Nkosi, who was part of South Africa’s CHAN squad but didn’t make a
competitive appearance for Sundowns, has featured twice for AmaTuks since
his move to the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
“Fitness wise, he is okay. He is young and he has got potential,” Kopo told
the Siya crew. “We must not rave too much about him, but we must work him.
We have spoken and he knows the areas he needs to develop. We are still
working to develop him physically, but he is a young player who can blossom
over time with the right mentality.”
In other team news, Kopo revealed that the club’s other high-profile
signing, former Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Veli Mothwa, is nearing a return to
action. Mothwa has been sidelined with an injury picked up in pre-season.
“He started training, so hopefully we will have him back by the end of
October,” said Kopo. “With Veli coming back, it will only strengthen the
goalkeeping department which has shown a lot of improvement.”
