A CAF C License coaching course is currently underway in Johannesburg,
marking another important step in strengthening the foundation of South
African football coaching.
The initiative is a collaborative effort between the Gauteng Football
Association (GFA) and the Gauteng Department of Education, aimed at
equipping aspiring coaches with the technical, tactical, and leadership
tools required under CAF’s professional coaching standards.
The programme, hosted at Paterson Park Multipurpose Centre, runs in two
phases – the first taking place from 4 to 11 October 2025, and the second
scheduled for 6 to 12 December 2025.
Among the notable names enrolled in the course are Mamelodi Sundowns
chairman Tlhopie Motsepe and Kenneth Simmons, son of Kaizer Chiefs
marketing director Jessica Motaung, as confirmed by SAFA in a statement,
both showing a strong interest in developing their football knowledge and
coaching expertise.
The course is being co-facilitated by experienced instructors Simon Tshowa
and Cameron Cox, who bring extensive knowledge from both grassroots and
professional football environments.
Their role will be to guide participants through CAF’s structured learning
modules that cover player development, team management, tactical
understanding, and modern coaching methodologies.
This two-phase rollout reflects CAF’s broader commitment to improving
