The Premier Soccer League has unveiled a thrilling set of fixtures for
the Carling Knockout Round of 16, setting the stage for a dramatic four days
of football from October 3rd to 5th. The draw has produced several
tantalizing clashes, with the nation’s focus set to be on Soweto giants
Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates, as well as last season’s finalists,
Mamelodi Sundowns.
The action begins on Friday evening at Chatsworth Stadium, where Durban City
will take on Polokwane City at 19:00.
A packed Saturday schedule features a triple-header of matches. Orlando
Pirates will host Siwelele FC at Orlando Stadium in a 15:00 kickoff. Later,
Golden Arrows face Sekhukhune United at King Zwelithini Stadium. The day’s
headline event, however, takes place at 20:00 as Mamelodi Sundowns welcome
Marumo Gallants to the Lucas Moripe Stadium. The Brazilians will be aiming
to make a powerful statement and recover from their recent shock league
defeat to Golden Arrows.
Sunday’s action promises to deliver one of the ties of the round, as Kaizer
Chiefs travel to the DHL Stadium for a tough encounter against Stellenbosch
FC at 15:00. Amakhosi will be eager to put the recent turbulence surrounding
coach Nasreddine Nabi’s future behind them with a strong cup performance.
Simultaneously, Richards Bay host Chippa United at the Umhlathuze Sports
Stadium. The round concludes at 18:00 with AmaZulu locking horns with Magesi
FC at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
