Pirates Midfielder Reflects on Siwelele
Cup Draw
Orlando Pirates midfielder Selaelo
Rasebotja has shared his thoughts after the Buccaneers were drawn against
Siwelele FC in the Carling Knockout Cup Round of 16.
The clash, set for the Free State
Stadium, comes just days after the two sides meet in league action, with
Pirates aiming to take advantage of Siwelele’s struggles following a 2-0
defeat to Magesi FC in Polokwane on Saturday.
Siwelele, still adjusting to life in the
top flight under new ownership after purchasing SuperSport United’s
status, remain under pressure as they continue to hover near the
relegation zone.
Speaking at the Carling Knockout launch
on Monday, Rasebotja praised the Free State outfit despite their slow
start.
“I think it’s going to be a very
interesting fixture against Siwelele, especially since we’re playing
them again in a few days,” he said.
“It will be a good one for us, and regardless of the result, I believe
it will serve as strong preparation for both teams ahead of the cup
match.”
The 22-year-old also opened up about
his recent injury setback, which came shortly after the arrival of new
head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou.
“Obviously, it was sad to get
injured, but I believe nothing happens without reason,” he explained.
“Right now, my focus is on staying mentally strong, working on my
recovery, and returning to full training as soon as possible.”
Rasebotja, who joined Pirates last
season from the now-defunct SuperSport United, has made only four Betway
Premiership appearances for the Soweto giants so far.
