The second knockout tournament of the season is set to kick off, with
the Carling Knockout fixtures officially unveiled during the launch at FNB
Stadium on Monday afternoon.
Defending champions Magesi FC will begin their title defence with a trip to
KwaZulu-Natal to face AmaZulu in the last 16. Magesi made history last
season by becoming the first club to lift a major knockout trophy in their
maiden topflight campaign, edging Mamelodi Sundowns in the Bloemfontein
final.
Last season’s runners-up, Sundowns, will open their campaign at home against
Marumo Gallants, while Kaizer Chiefs face a tricky away tie against
Stellenbosch FC, a side they have already clashed with in league action this
season.
Elsewhere, Orlando Pirates—who were stunned by Magesi in the first round
last year—will look to make amends when they meet Siwelele FC.
