Comitis Vows to Bounce Back as Cape Town City Push for Automatic Promotion

Following their 3-1 loss to Highbury FC in the Motsepe Foundation
Championship, Cape Town City are determined to bounce back when they travel
to face Venda FC on Saturday.

With the Citizens currently sitting third on the overall log, club chairman
John Comitis has made it clear that the team is heading into the fixture
with victory as the only objective, with their sights firmly set on the race
for automatic promotion.

Speaking to PSLSA in an exclusive interview, Comitis said the team is not
just playing for themselves, but for the city of Cape Town.

“I’m quiet these days. You know, sometimes you have to be quiet. Get my nose
in front. Once I get my nose in front, then I’m different,” he said.

“We’ve got to keep going this weekend. A lot rests on this game, and we
hopefully will achieve the win we want, which will allow us to remain in the
race. We have nine games to go, looking for seven wins, and if we can
achieve that, then we’re good to go.”

Comitis also acknowledged that the result between league leaders Kruger
United and fifth-placed Casric Stars—who face off this afternoon in
Mpumalanga—will have a bearing on his side’s situation as well.

“That affects us as well. We remain focused. We know what we have to do.
We’re not just playing for ourselves. We’re playing for the City of Cape
Town. We need to have top-flight football in Cape Town, and hopefully the
players can take it on and make it happen,” Comitis observed.

The clash against Venda FC is scheduled to take place at Thohoyandou Stadium
on Saturday, with kick-off set for 15:30.
