Gabadinho Mhango Suffers Achilles Setback, Likely to Miss Remainder of Season

Agent Mike Makaab has provided an update on striker Gabadinho Mhango,
who has suffered a setback that will keep him sidelined for a significant
period.

The Malawian international has made 14 appearances for Richards Bay FC this
season. The former Orlando Pirates striker made a promising start to the
campaign with four goals in 12 Betway Premiership matches but is now
expected to return only next season. Despite not featuring since November
last year, he remains the club’s top scorer.

Mhango still has another season remaining on his contract with the Natal
Rich Boyz, allowing him time to recover and return to action next term. It
remains unclear, at this stage, how long the 33-year-old attacker will be
out for.

“He injured his Achilles, and it looks like he is going to have to go for an
operation. He still has time to recover,” Makaab told PSLSA.

“He signed a two-year contract, so there is still another year on his
contract.”

In Mhango’s absence, Moses Mthembu has stepped up as one of Richards Bay’s
goal scorers. Mthembu has netted three goals since Mhango’s injury, making
him the club’s second-highest scorer.
