The coming months are pivotal for Siwelele FC goalkeeper Ricardo Goss,
who faces dual objectives: securing his professional future and achieving a
personal milestone by playing in his first major final.
Currently on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns, Goss is eager to clarify his
long-term situation by the season’s end. But first, he is focused on an even
more immediate goal—guiding Siwelele to the Nedbank Cup final. The Bafana
Bafana shot-stopper has never featured on the pitch in a top-flight knockout
final, something he is determined to change when the competition begins in
February.
“At the moment, I don’t know,” Goss told PSLSA regarding his future. “There
is a lot that needs to be settled at the end of the season. It would be nice
to keep playing. I want to keep playing for Bafana, so the more I am
playing, the better.”
Reflecting on his ambition, he added: “I’m yet to play a final in my
professional career. I’ve been on the bench in one, so it would be so
awesome to go all the way in the Nedbank Cup.”
Siwelele return to Betway Premiership action this evening with an away match
against Richards Bay—a fixture that also serves as a dress rehearsal for
their upcoming cup meeting with the same opponents.
After buying the top-flight status of SuperSport United, Siwelele endured a
challenging start to the season, winning only two of their first ten
matches. However, they finished the year stronger, collecting eight points
from their last five games to climb to 11th place before the December break.
“It wasn’t a bad start because we actually won our first game,” Goss
remarked. “If you see the games we lost, we were not playing at home. I
think home is our happy hunting ground.”
A stronger second half of the season is essential for Siwelele to secure a
comfortable league position, and a victory tonight in Richards Bay would
provide the perfect boost as they begin their 2026 campaign.
