AEL Limassol have completed the signing of versatile South African
attacker Thapelo Maseko on a loan deal from Mamelodi Sundowns, securing
his services until the end of the current season.
The 22-year-old, who can operate across the frontline and in attacking
midfield, brings a wealth of experience from both the South African top
flight and continental competitions.
Maseko began his professional career at SuperSport United, making 34
appearances before his high-profile transfer to Sundowns in 2023. At
Chloorkop, he featured 45 times for the reigning champions, gaining
exposure in the African Football League, CAF Champions League, and
domestic league.
The move to Cyprus also adds an international dimension, as Maseko is a
capped South African international, having earned seven appearances for
Bafana Bafana.
In an official club statement, AEL Limassol welcomed their new
acquisition: “We welcome the footballer to the big AEL family and wish him
every success with the blue and yellow jersey.”
