Pollen Ndlanya Advises Sirino on Chiefs Future: “He Must Change His Attitude”

As Gaston Sirino’s contract at Kaizer Chiefs nears its June expiry, club
legend Pollen Ndlanya has highlighted what the Uruguayan must do to secure
an extension.

Sirino, who joined Chiefs from Mamelodi Sundowns ahead of the 2024/25
season, has had an uneven two-year spell marked by glimpses of brilliance,
injuries, and reported disagreements with former coach Nasreddine Nabi.
Despite the challenges, the 34-year-old played a crucial role in ending
Chiefs’ decade-long trophy drought, scoring twice in their Nedbank Cup
run—including a goal in the 2–1 final victory over Orlando Pirates.

Ndlanya believes Sirino still possesses the quality and experience that
Chiefs need but insists his future hinges on a change in approach.

“In my opinion he’s still a good player but he must change his attitude,
that’s all,” said the former Bafana Bafana striker, popularly known as
‘Trompies’.

While the decision ultimately rests with club management, Ndlanya also
shared his view on Chiefs’ activity in the January transfer window amid
high-profile moves by rivals Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns.

“They will sign, it’s up to the management. They’ve been in this game for
a long time, they will sign — they won’t just sign, but they will sign
quality players,” Ndlanya stated.

He emphasized that Chiefs operate on their own terms, adding: “I know the
management of Kaizer Chiefs, they don’t copy others, they do their own
thing. They don’t need to copy Pirates or Sundowns. They’re going at their
own pace.”

As the season progresses, Sirino’s performances and professionalism will
likely determine whether he remains part of the club’s plans beyond June.
