Shandu’s Future at Orlando Pirates Awaits Monday Clarity

Bandile Shandu’s future at Orlando Pirates could become clearer as early
as Monday, with his representatives expecting a decision from the club on a
possible contract extension.

Shandu’s current deal expires at the end of the season, and with game time
limited this campaign, his agent Mike Makaab is seeking clarity to plan the
player’s next move.

“I am hoping to have some sort of answer on Monday, as to whether they are
interested in a new deal. It’s important to know if Pirates will keep him,”
Makaab told PSLSA.

The 30-year-old defender has made only four appearances across all
competitions this season, finding himself behind Thabiso Lebitso and Deano
van Rooyen in the right-back pecking order.

Should Pirates choose not to renew, Shandu is eligible to sign a
pre-contract with another club. Interest in the experienced former
Maritzburg United player is expected to be significant, according to
sources.

An early decision would allow Shandu and his camp to assess options well
before his contract concludes in June.
