Promising Orlando Pirates midfielder Lungelo “Scirocco” Dondolo will
spend the remainder of the season on loan at Motsepe Foundation Championship
side Midlands Wanderers, a move confirmed by sources to the Siya crew.
The loan is a strategic step by the Buccaneers to fast-track the development
of the young player, who is viewed as a long-term prospect for the club.
Dondolo, who previously featured for the Bidvest Wits and SuperSport United
DStv Diski Challenge sides, needs regular competitive action to bridge the
gap to senior football.
His inclusion in Pirates’ traveling squad for the Carling All Star match in
December signaled the club’s belief in his potential. However, with
first-team opportunities currently limited, the club has opted for a
developmental loan.
According to sources, the objective is clear: to provide Dondolo with
consistent match minutes in a demanding league environment. Pirates aim to
prevent stagnation and believe this exposure will equip him to return for
the next pre-season sharper and ready to compete for a place in Abdeslam
Ouaddou’s senior squad.
