Kaizer Chiefs are showing no urgency in renewing the contracts of several
key players, despite their deals expiring at the end of June.
Insiders at the club have indicated that there is no sense of panic over
the futures of players like Bruce Bvuma, Brandon Petersen, Dillan
Solomons, Sibongiseni Mthethwa, Nkosingiphile Ngcobo, and Pule Mmodi.
According to a source speaking to PSLSA, the club is prepared to take its
time before making any decisions.
The source explained that while Chiefs recognize the value of each player,
they feel no immediate pressure to secure new agreements. “No one is
signing those guys. That’s why even now, we are in no hurry. We are not
scared to lose anyone,” the insider stated, suggesting that other teams
may struggle to match the players’ current salaries.
The club plans to conduct a thorough assessment of the squad—including
experienced players—toward the end of the season before deciding who to
retain. One player highlighted for his importance is Gaston Sirino.
“You have to assess if you’re going to need Sirino come end of the season.
But Sirino for me here is important, yeah? Very important,” the source
noted, praising the midfielder’s impact and ranking him among the best
South American signings in the league.
With the season still in progress, Kaizer Chiefs are opting for a patient
and strategic approach to squad planning, prioritizing performance reviews
before committing to long-term contracts.
