Cape Town City in Talks for European Moves for Young Trio Following Trials

Cape Town City chairman John Comitis has confirmed the club is in
discussions with European sides over the potential transfers of three
young talents following successful assessment periods abroad.

Gabriel Amato, Shakeel April, and Jody Ah Shene recently completed trials
in Europe. Amato trained with Dutch club PEC Zwolle, while April and Ah
Shene were assessed by Belgian powerhouse Royal Antwerp.

In an exclusive interview with PSLSA, Comitis praised the players’
performances and confirmed negotiations are underway. “They are all back
and we are still in discussions with those clubs… In fact, all three did
very well,” he stated.

With the January transfer window now active, Comitis indicated that talks
would intensify, though the outcome remains uncertain. “It is a little bit
early to determine, but obviously with discussions there.”

Reiterating the club’s philosophy, Comitis affirmed that Cape Town City
would not block a move abroad for any player. “I will never stop a player
making an overseas move. I will try and make it work.” He pointed to
recent signings of experienced players like Miguel Timm and Dženan
Zajmović as part of the club’s strategy to maintain squad strength despite
potential departures.

The news comes as Cape Town City focus on their campaign for promotion
back to the Betway Premiership. They currently sit fourth in the Motsepe
Foundation Championship with 22 points from 14 matches.

As the transfer window progresses, the futures of Amato, April, and Ah
Shene will be closely watched, adding a significant subplot to City’s
season.
