Kaizer Chiefs are preparing for a grueling start to the new year, with a
congested fixture list across three competitions set to test the squad’s
depth and endurance.
Amakhosi remain active in the CAF Confederation Cup, the DStv Premiership,
and the Nedbank Cup—a triple commitment that will demand intense rotation
and careful management, especially with continental travel adding to the
strain.
A source within the club has outlined to PSLSA a relentless sequence of
matches, sometimes with just three days between games. “The schedule is
extremely tight,” the source explained. “We start against Golden Arrows on
the 20th, then it’s CAFCC in Zambia, followed midweek by Marumo Gallants,
before hosting the Zambian side that weekend. And it doesn’t let up—soon
after, we’re into the Nedbank Cup, then back-to-back CAF matches against Al
Masry and Zamalek in Egypt, all before the Soweto Derby on the 28th of
February. There’s virtually no room to rest.”
This demanding run will heavily challenge the team’s resources, making squad
rotation essential to maintain competitiveness on all fronts.
Currently placed fourth in the DStv Premiership with 24 points from 13
matches, Chiefs have shown solid form this season with six wins, six draws,
and only one loss. Their 2026 campaign kicks off on 20 January at home to
Golden Arrows at FNB Stadium (19h30 kickoff).
