Otladisa Rebuilds at Marumo Gallants After U.S. Move Collapses

Katlego Otladisa’s return to Marumo Gallants came after a promising
overseas opportunity in the United States unexpectedly fell through in 2025,
sources have revealed.

The 29-year-old winger, whose future at Orlando Pirates was uncertain
following a loan spell at Sekhukhune United, was close to securing a move
abroad earlier this year. However, complications during
negotiations—centered around confusion regarding the player’s
representation—ultimately derailed the transfer.

“There was real interest from the USA, but once complications appeared, it
was felt the best solution was for the player to look locally for stability
and game time,” a source explained.

Contrary to speculation, Pirates did not obstruct the move. Club officials
are understood to have allowed discussions to proceed without rushing
decisions on Otladisa’s future. When the deal collapsed, attention shifted
back to the PSL, where the winger chose to rejoin Gallants, a club where he
had previously excelled.

The move has already borne fruit. Otladisa played a key role in Gallants’
run to the Carling Knockout final, where they narrowly lost 1-0 to his
former side, Orlando Pirates, on Saturday evening.

Despite the setback, those close to the player believe overseas
opportunities could re-emerge if he continues to regain form and confidence
at Gallants. The club, under French coach Alexandre Lafitte, views Otladisa
as a crucial part of their project—a player who brings pace, width, and
valuable experience to their attacking lineup.
