With his contract believed to be nearing its expiry at the end of the
season, Kaizer Chiefs have been urged to retain their current first-choice
goalkeeper, Brandon Petersen.
Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Thabang Rooi believes that the Soweto giants
should extend Petersen’s stay at the club following his scintillating form
in the 2025/26 campaign.
In an exclusive interview with PSLSA Rooi said that however, the goalkeeper
should work on his footwork so that the team can play from the back.
“At the moment, he is the No. 1 choice goalkeeper, so I think they must
extend his stay.
“Now the only thing he needs to do is to improve his footwork so he can help
his defence on playing from the back,” Rooi told PSLSA.
Meanwhile, Rooi further observed that Amakhosi should release one goalkeeper
between Bruce Bvuma and Fiacre Ntwari so that they can sign a new goalkeeper
in their place.
“I think they need to sign a good keeper and release one of them,” he
observed.
Both Bruce Bvuma and Brandon Petersen’s contracts are running out at the end
of the season and there are no talks of renewal on both goalkeepers from the
club.
