Zimbabwean forward Daniel Msendami has confirmed that reported interest
in him from Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates was genuine,
though it ultimately did not lead to a transfer.
Speaking after Zimbabwe’s 3-2 defeat to South Africa at the Africa Cup of
Nations in Morocco, the Marumo Gallants striker acknowledged the concrete
nature of the links but revealed his focus remains on performance.
“For me, the way I heard it, I think it was concrete but I didn’t put it on
my mind because if they really were interested in me, they were going to
take me. But for me, I’ll just keep on pushing,” Msendami stated. “I’ll go
where I’m needed and I’ll try and push very hard and try to score more goals
in the league and continue playing well like this.”
When asked about his career ambitions, the 25-year-old made it clear that a
move to a bigger club remains the goal. “Definitely, we play for that. We
play to go to top leagues. We play for big teams… I hope this time I’ll
get a better offer somewhere, where I can go on a high level and showcase my
talent.”
Msendami’s immediate future, however, is uncertain. His contract with Marumo
Gallants is nearing its end, a situation he described as unclear. “Yeah, my
contract is expiring soon but I’m not yet clear. I don’t know what is
happening exactly but I’ll keep on pushing,” he concluded.
Since joining Gallants last season, Msendami has made 16 appearances this
campaign, scoring once. At international level, he has earned 13 caps for
Zimbabwe, solidifying his reputation as a promising talent in the region.
