Chiefs Resume Training Early Amidst Packed Schedule Concerns

Club insider emphasizes need for four-week preparation as team targets
strong second half of the season.

With the festive season concluded, Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly set to
resume training earlier than initially planned to adequately prepare for a
demanding schedule ahead. The club’s first match of 2026 is against Golden
Arrows on January 20.

An insider close to the club informed PSLSA that a proper pre-season
training block is essential, stating that returning on the initially
reported date of January 6 would leave insufficient time.

“Training from the sixth is late. You can’t come back on the sixth when you
play on the 20th. Two weeks of training is not enough. After a break, you
need about four weeks to train,” the source explained, highlighting that a
full preseason ideally requires six weeks.

The insider revealed that the Soweto giants, along with other major clubs,
would instead begin preparations on Monday, December 29. “Four weeks is from
tomorrow. Every team will be back tomorrow; I can tell you… Mamelodi
Sundowns will be back tomorrow. Orlando Pirates will be back tomorrow.
Chiefs will be back. You don’t take chances at this stage.”

Chiefs ended 2025 in fourth place on the Betway Premiership log with 24
points from 13 matches, recording six wins, six draws, and only one loss.
Their focus now shifts to a strong restart when they host Golden Arrows at
FNB Stadium at 19:30 on January 20.
